Welcome to the Social Enterprise Awards Wales

An Awards scheme that celebrates the social enterprise movement in Wales.

Congratulations to all the finalists – you have been shortlisted against strong competition. Here is the total list of nominees who will be at the awards event on Tuesday 1st March:

Social Enterprise Start-Up of the Year Award (Sponsored by The Co-operative):
Grow Enterprise Wales
Gr.E.W. provides services such as recycling, cleaning and gardening, creating employment and training opportunities for young unemployed people and local volunteers.
Tredegar Community Interest Company
TCIC runs two local social enterprises, a business support service and a book recycling scheme, to help regenerate the area and provide employment.
Vi-Ability Educational Programme
This organisation trains young people to take on a variety of roles in local football clubs, which broadens their horizons professionally and makes the clubs more sustainable.

Social Enterprise Leader of the Year Award (Sponsored by Bevan & Buckland):
Andrew Burns, Cycle Training Wales
This social enterprise seeks to raise the number of people cycling, and remove barriers to cycling through the provision of training and educational activities.
Andy Lowe, Co-options
Co-options creates businesses and finds employment and training opportunities that include people with learning disabilities.
Kelly Davies, Vi-Ability
This organisation trains young people to take on a variety of key commercial roles in local football clubs, which broadens their horizons professionally and makes the clubs more sustainable.
Sharon Jones, Crest Co-operative
A community interest co-operative that helps disabled people and the unemployed increase their skills and gain employment through three recycling projects.

Social Enterprise of the Year Award (Sponsored by Business in the Community):
Co-options Ltd
Co-options creates businesses and finds employment and training opportunities that include people with learning disabilities.
Crest Co-operative
A community focused co-operative that helps disabled adults and the unemployed back into employment through various recycling enterprises.
Galeri Caernarfon Cyf
Galeri Caernarfon Cyf is an independent Town Development Trust which has transformed and refurbished some of Caernarfon’s biggest eyesores and given the people of Caernarfon Galeri Creative Enterprise Centre.

A big thank you to everyone who entered, and if you weren’t lucky this time, the Awards will be back again next year – so keep up the good work to be considered in 2012.
